IMPROVE YOUR PERFORMANCE
Karate is a fantastic method for improving yourself in many ways, whether you are trying to be more fit, or learn how to be a good leader, or how to socialize.

BENEFITS OF DOING
It is no secret that learning a martial art can offer a lot of value to a person. Regardless of the martial art, you decide to learn and practice, you are going to experience a number of different benefits, both physical and unseen. These range from being able to defend yourself to building up your mental strength and endurance.
I’m Hanshi Steve, at The Dojo Billerica.
Steve Diorio has been studying and teaching martial arts since 1976. His black belts include several different styles of martial arts and he has taught Uechi Ryu at Brandeis University and the Westwood Recreation Department.
"I love seeing kids grow." Steve has extensive experience training kids. But more important than the martial arts skills they learn is the personal skills they develop and carry for life. Because martial arts is so much more than just kicking and punching, and getting the next colorful belt. It’s about developing confidence, discipline, character, focus and respect.
Sensei Janine, also known as Doc, is a third-degree black belt who has been studying Uechi-Ryu since 2014 with Hanshi Steve. She is also an Assistant Instructor at The Dojo - Billerica.
She had been looking to find a new karate school when she met Steve - and it turns out that she studied the same style of karate when she was a child! When she was a teenager, she studied Kenpo karate for a few years, but she wanted to return to a more traditional martial art. And once she tried a class, she knew that Hanshi Steve was an excellent teacher with a great sense of humor, so she stuck with it and is currently studying for her fourth-degree black belt.
In addition to studying Uechi-Ryu karate, Doc is a dually licensed chiropractor and acupuncturist with her own practice in North Andover, MA: Pulley Chiropractic & Acupuncture. Doctor by day, Ninja by night!

We have always seen the martial arts as a vehicle for greatness, not just a physical pursuit. There is something about the way it helps a person grow, whether you are young or old, just starting out or massively accomplished.
We are here to build martial artist of a type that are rare, valuable, authentic, powerful, and absolutely extraordinary; We aim to build world-class leaders, teachers, activists, and thinker-doers who are legendary –who innovate, stand for the best-of-the-best, who literally CHANGE THE WORLD as we know it.
We seek to cultivate Master-citizens, people worthy of documentaries, worthy of attention, who stand for the wholesome, the honest, the simple, the real, the compassionate, and the engaged.
We hope to build leaders who think differently, who think beyond themselves, who transcend the subject matter, who step in when it’s stepping in that’s needed, who know how to forgive, to help, to participate, and who look deeply at what they do, what they consume, and who they help –as a form of practicing a kind of martial arts and living a life that we can all be proud of.
My son Cameron started at The Dojo in October and I can’t say enough about the amazing experience he has had in these 3 months! Cameron’s confidence level has improved tremendously, he can focus on what is asked of him and he is having fun!!! He started off attending once a week and now he comes to all the classes and even goes early to help be a positive role model for the younger children! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Dojo! You won’t be disappointed!
My son has been taking lessons for a few years now and his concentration, discipline, and skills have soared under the awesome tutelage of Sensei Steve! Highly recommended.
We as parents decided to have our daughter try karate. After meeting with Steve we decided his teaching style, skills and experience would be the best fit. Not only has my daughter gained extensive karate skills but most importantly she has gained self confidence. She is well equipped to stick up for herself in any situation and has the confidence that she can defend herself if she needed. I am forever grateful to The Dojo!
